    Fabric Grow Bags

Our fabric grow bags are a great addition to your container garden.

    • Made of food-safe and BPA-free polypropylene plastic
    • Fabric pots allow your roots to breathe, creating a healthier root system
    • Decreased risk of transplant shock from the improved root structure
    • Attached handles to make for easy transportation
    • Made with the highest quality fabric with a density of 350 grams per square meter

Our fabric grow bags are made of breathable material to encourage root pruning. Standard non-porous pots cause your roots to circle around the pot, eventually suffocating itself. Root pruning encourages your roots to grow out to the edges of the pots, where they self-prune themselves. This leads to a strong and healthy root system. Shop all grow bags here.

You can also use any of our grow bags for soil or hydroponic applications both outdoors and indoors.

This is a great idea for any small space, including hydroponic systems, in-ground, greenhouses, your front porch, or deck. Easily folds up to be stored when not in use.

    QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

    Ask a Question
    • I am looking for a size, ( or two ). larger than this, something approximating an actual 5 gallon bucket. I see 'trade' gallons are not liquid gallons. Is there something larger ?

Our 5 gallon bags are now 5.3 liquid gallons.  These may also be listed as 7 trade gallons from other suppliers.

    • when will you be getting the 5 gal in stock in the 5 pak.

We will be back in stock of the 5 pack 5 gallon grow bags at the end of July.  We are in the middle of a small redesign to make the fabric thicker to provide a higher quality product.  Sorry for the the inconveniance.

    • Can you use grow bags on the grass/ground? I’ve read the roots will grow through if they are on the ground.

Grow bags can be used both in ground and on grass. When placed in ground the roots will grow through the bag. Some people use this feature to be able to transplant without damaging the root ball or as a way to remove the plant later.

Grow bags placed on the ground will eventually grow roots down into soil. Placing a few layers of cardboard under the bag will suppress weeds and delay the grow through by a few years depending on the thickness of the cardboard.

    • What size would be best for potatoes?

For potatoes we generally recommened a 10 or 25 gallon grow bag.

    • Where are the grow bags made? If made in the US (or anywhere other than China), what is the origin of the material used to make the grow bags? And if they are made in China, what is the origin of the material used?? Thank you so much.

Our grow bags are currently manufactured in China.  We are looking to move to the US in the near future and have been working with some manufacturers to try to make it economical to do so.  For our grow bags we are currently using BPA free virgin plastic (not recycled) in the grow bags as it's the best way to ensure no contaminants.

    • Do I have to cut drainage holes in the bottom of my 7 gallon black fabric grow bags?

You don't need to cut any drain holes in the grow bags.  The water will naturally seep out of the fabric.

    • can you put a grow bag into a pot after it is planted? or do you need to transplant?

No need to transplant.   You can leave it right in the grow bag!

    • How many tomatoes plants can /should you put in the 25 gallon bags

Tomatoes generally like their own containers, so we'd recommend the 4-7 gallon size for tomatoes.  That said, you could get 2-3 in a 25 gallon bag.

    • What is a good mix for organic growing in grow bags? Was thinking of 12 cu ft peat 2.4 cu ft coir, 8 cu ft perlite with 5 pounds of lime and organic fertilizer from there. 53% 10% 35% on the bulk ingredients similar to promix mp organic mix. Thoughts or better suggestion? Just growing vegetables. Bags and trays are quality products. Thank you.

This is a good mix for containers nice and light. Pro-mix and commercial potting mixes are good choices for small containers and many times less expensive that mixing your own batch.  Vermiculite can also be used with or in exchange of the perlite if needed, it is sometimes easier to find at retail locations. Vegetable fertilizer is for sure needed and I would likely  add slow release pelleted fertilizer to bags since the coir and peat by themselves have no nutrition.

    • What is the weight of the cloth used in the bags?

Our grow bags are made with the highest quality fabric with a density of 350 grams per square meter.

    • Where are the grow bags made please?

      They are made in China.
