With this Roll-Up Side Curtain Kit, naturally venting your greenhouse can be done with ease. This kit includes a roll-up side set up for each side of your hoop house. Venting your greenhouse not only cools the temperatures but also helps improve your plants' growth with fresh air uptake.
Included:
Paracord/spring for lacing/tying down of sidewalls not included.
This is designed for the DIY kit and not the All Metal Kit.
Our greenhouse hand crank can roll up sidewalls up to 150 feet long. It does so with the durable construction of stainless steel in a plastic resin casing designed to fight off long-term corrosion and wear. What’s more, its 4:1 gear ratio makes for easy cranking, and it's self-locking. The automatic brake will ensure that your sidewall will stay where you want it to.
With this hand crank, you’ll be able to control the temperature and humidity of your greenhouse. It also gives you side access to both your low and high tunnel hoop houses. It’s even easy to install; just follow these instructions for guidance on how to integrate this greenhouse curtain crank into the creation of your greenhouse.
Controlling greenhouse humidity with some ventilation system is a must in just about any climate. Even in cooler climates, greenhouse temperatures can reach extreme levels. Your plants are more likely to die in a greenhouse from excessive heat than too cool temperatures.
Proper greenhouse air circulation is also critical for healthy plants. Rolling up your side curtains allows stale air to get pushed out of your greenhouse, leading to healthier plants with fewer disease and pest problems. Many common greenhouse pests and diseases thrive in the stale and humid air. Rolling up your sidewalls will allow air to circulate naturally, reducing incidences of these common problems.
Growing in a greenhouse without natural air circulation can cause poor pollination of your plants. A breeze naturally sends pollen around your greenhouse so you can avoid the hassle of hand-pollinating every plant. If you notice poor pollination or fruit set, this is a sign that you may need to increase the airflow into your greenhouse.
During the hot summer months, it's critical to keep your greenhouse well-ventilated. To keep your plants cool during periods of high heat, we simply roll up our sidewalls and keep both end wall doors open. This allows air to naturally keep our greenhouse cool and our plants safe from excess heat.

Great kit, great solution
We inherited two low unventilated hoophouses that had been used to overwinter container material. After installing the rollup kit on one we decided to upgrade the second in short order. I was dubious about the cranks in the rollupside kit at first but the whole system works well and was straightforward to install once we got into the rhythm. After struggling with the conduit connectors slipping...C.W. H., December 2024
The Best Option
I shopped around to multiple vendors to find the best option for a quality hoop house and I went with Bootstrap Farmer. Their instructions and helpful customer service confirmed they were the vendor to go with. Definitely recommend.Customer, June 2020
Sidewall Hand Crank
Have been looking for something like this for years! This is much, much better than anything I've ever had. Highly recommended. Very, very pleased.Kenneth M., June 2020
Awesome Sides
Aside from figuring out how to start rolling the plastic on the EMT (user error) the sides are awesome. The rollers are heavy duty, strong, and glide easily over the EMT. I wasn't sure if the extra cost was going to be worth it but it definitely was.Customer, April 2020
