Our newly designed, shallow 5 x 5 trays are made of heavy-duty, BPA- free, FDA-grade, polypropylene plastic. Ideal for small-batch microgreens, propagation projects, and more. These 5" x 5" inserts can be used for both soil and hydroponic applications. 

Designed to be used with our shallow 1020 trays. Eight of the 5x5 trays fit into one shallow 1020. Learn how to grow microgreens with this convenient 5" x 5" tray size here.

Please note: These do not fit well in our standard 1010 trays.  Since our 1010 trays are designed to fit two into a 1020, they are slightly smaller and do not fit four 5x5 trays precisely.

  • The plastic is sturdy. These are just the right size for a two person serving of microgreens. We try and plant one/day which is just about the right quantity. The colors are helpful in managing the rotation. Also the depth is good for microgreens such as broccoli, radish,cabbage…..

  • Microgreen 5x5 inserts

    as always Bootstrap Farmer came through with their great product! I put together kits for a class I was teaching, that included the black 10x20 and the 5x5 inserts with holes, I also included coco coir and seeds. Everyone was so excited to get their kits! And many of them have sent photos of their grow!

  • Shallow micro green trays

    Very pleased with the overall quality of the trays! I have started my first trays, so Im excited to see the results of growing smaller. I intend to use them as living micros to sell at Farmers Markets, So I don’t have to have the limited food service license Pa requires. Just pop them out of the tray and place in a cardboard box, the customer cuts themselves. This way I’m selling a “plant”
